The next time you are strolling down Essex, Ludlow, or Clinton, thinking wow, the L.E.S is just so cool and nice, and I need a tee from American Apparel. Maybe this will remind you of what once was. Before the Whole Foods and all the hipster bars, clubs, and nice restaurants. The LES was a clusterfuck of drugs and crime. I’m not saying which is better, but I’m willing to bet that in the 70-80’s this area was not being cruised by the striped shirt d-bags of midtown.
