Mini Bar is a new space in Amsterdam that takes the hotel mini bar aesthetic to a new level. You check in with a concierge who provides you with a key to one of the 45 Mini Bar’s in the space. Then you and your party can sit down, take what you want and are charged accordingly. The idea begs the question, why wouldn’t I just do this at home? Or why would I pay for this? $14 mixology cocktails have become commonplace so one would be safe to assume there is a market for this sort of “serve yourself” drinking. Bottle service is for mega clubs and Ed Hardy wearing douchery. Either you want your bartender wearing a vest and a pocket handkerchief pouring you freshly mixed Manhattans or you could decide to pull a cold one from your own fridge amongst a full bar of strangers.
